I/O 03:48
I/O (06_25_2021) Stay where you want to stay Do what you say that you say that you want to do It’s all words Time is my only friend It gives what you take that you say that you want to give It’s absurd So sleep, my dear And you’ll see the stars From there you can Send your love Seek out the hero in you The one that you know that you’ve always wanted to be To save the day Throw me your pretty words The ones that I need to hear so desperately To swim ashore So sleep, my dear And you’ll see the stars (The ones you always wish upon) From there you can send your love Input/Out(side) Always one Zeros win

Sea Ice 03:48
Sea Ice (07_11_2021) Forever gone and never found There’s a tide inside tonight The current ripped apart my hand Quick to bleed Slow to sink There’s blood in the water tonight Yesterday’s a hungry beast From here we’ll try to breathe Stay afloat just another long day to cry And grieve For all the days we lost down by the sea We’re only ghosts Swept away into another life Where all we know is what we left on shore Without you I don’t want to be the only one that’s left behind to swim alone The sun is gone without a sound Let’s take a ride without the light The current slips apart through sand Surrender to that starlit fateful sky A wish upon a fallen dream This isn’t how it seems From here we’ll try to breathe Stay afloat just another long day to cry And grieve For all the days we lost Down by the sea We’re only ghosts Swept away into another life Where all we know is what came before You slipped away So silently A breath to hold so cautiously No tears to break No waves to fall This frozen sea entombs us all

allrong 04:59
allrong (08_24_2021) Please say win I don’t know how it ends But I know we’ve all sinned We bear the scars It’s day Light and skies above The birds still sing Their tune through the fog and ash That rest upon our dreams from another world Please stay calm It’s too late for tears anymore Any way We move forward and away from what we always never had It’s day Like night again I think It’s all right they say It’s all wrong today Anyway, We move forward in place Just in case We’re encased in fear It’s day Might I see again The light to show our sins The birds sing through the fog of more Days to come

For Another 03:44
For Another (04.27.08) Just say that you love me even if you don’t So i can cry on your shoulder any time that i want And lie down next to your side to hear you breathe Just pull me into you Just let me say that i love you because i do I don’t cry or feel lonely when i’m lying next to you You smile but then walk away when i wish you would stay You kiss me but then you leave I’ll give you all that i have right now If you give me all of your love somehow But i know that you can’t give to me what you don’t have And so i’ll cry alone tonight Just say that you love me even if you don’t

Maybe 06:07
Maybe (the letter I should have sent ) (12.30.2016) Lately I've been feeling down again So maybe you're the one I hope to see when all is dark And you're the only light So maybe we were never meant to be But lately you're the only one I see When I write these songs Oh god, i think I was wrong You never seemed to let me down but i'm the one to cry So is it time to let go of my hope and let it die? You never seem to let me know now what's on your mind So please tell me, dear How can I move along? So maybe you're the one that's found true love now But lately I'm the one that's reeling from the loss of everything I thought I had but now it's all been a ruse I don't want to risk my love again For anyone So I won't have to fail and let them down I'm a poison pill locked up and thrown away You never seemed to let me down but i'm the one to cry So is it time to let go of my hope and let it die? You never seem to let me know what's on your mind So please tell me, dear Tell me, love How can I move along? I'm falling down an endless dream of broken hearts And nothing left to lose I know you're gone and it's my fault But I always thought that some day I'd hear from you So maybe just one more song To show myself that I belong alone So please tell me, dear Tell me, love How did you move along? Lately I'm alone and dead inside So maybe you should never let me know just how you feel

Explosions Inside (12_2013) So when you’re gone and lost alone where no one seems to live Just take a look inside So clear No one knows what you’re worth or why you hurt Except the one inside that’s real Now look up child to see the sky The one you’ve learned to fly It’s the same old blue that you’ll know until you die So now it’s time to trust yourself and all that you must share All that’s left to those that care No sacred prayer to anyone outside will save you now The shadow that remains is your own Don’t think that I don’t know what it is to be alone It’s all I truly own Now look up child to see the sky The one you’ve learned to fly It’s the same old blue that you’ll know until you die Don’t think that I don’t know that you choose to be alone It’s what you want every time Don’t think that I don’t know that you’re alone It’s why you can’t be mine Please stay Please go It’s time I tear in two Don’t think that I don’t know that I choose to be alone It’s what I want every time

Dear, Friend 04:25
Dear, Friend (11.19.2019) I never look up to see where I am I never want to know the score That there’s no one to hold my hand I’ve been here before Is there something that I’m doing wrong Is there a better way to sing this song Maybe I’ll just sing it alone To the years behind me And the ones I’ll never own So emptiness is my only friend That’s always there To lend an ear and tell me how it is Let’s sing along together And cherish one another now (I never look up to see where I am) I want to be your friend for now and ever We’ll be the story that never ends This emptiness, my friend I never tear up when I’m down anymore It’s just the same news I’ve heard before But I still believe that I can be the one that someone needs Like a fairy tale that no one reads So emptiness, it’s my only friend That’s always free to lend an ear And show me how it’s going to be Let’s sing along together And cherish one another now (I never look up to see where I am) I want to be your friend for now and ever We’ll be the story that never ends This emptiness, my friend Say you’ll always be there for me When I’m down and wanting someone Emptiness, my friend so sweetly We’ll sail away into our sea of lies
8.
A Little Bit Destroyed (02.17.10) Just a little bit lonely right now Just a little bit tired of falling down Just a little bit of love left somehow But i feel like there’s so much more that I need to say Because I didn’t know who to tell when I woke up alone today Just a little bit of tears left from you Just a little bit of memories left to lose I’m a little bit destroyed over you But I know that I’ve got to move along and try once again Because I know that I don’t have forever to spend And because I just can’t fail and let you win Just a little bit of pain left to feel Just a little bit of pictures left that seem real Just a little bit of time for these wounds to heal But I hope I’ll be strong enough with just a little bit more glue Because I’ve been a little bit destroyed Over you
9.
One More Hour (03.02.2019) Stay with me One more hour Can’t you see I’m drowning in sorrow Every word you say I’ll save for another day Lie to me About us tomorrow So I’ll sleep A dream I can borrow Where every memory is timeless serenity So sweet Please don’t go yet I’m still the child you know With so much more to learn from you Can you teach me how you did it all? So stay with me Like you said you would when I was young and so lonely Ashamed to let you down Like I let myself down every day Forgive me for my transgressions I never was one for confessions I’m sorry if I’ll never be the one you thought I could be Please don’t go yet I’m still the child you know With so much more to learn from you But can you teach me to let go? Today is all that’s left for me to learn what love really means I guess this is your final hour I’ll find my peace In your final breath So lightly you drift away
10.
Code Broker 05:24
Code Broker (07_21_2021) So waste your time with me And please, let me down I never was the one you wanted to see around It’s alright I understand So everybody’s got what they need No questions here to set them free from what they fear It’s nobody’s gain to lose it all The moon out tonight is always full for all the fools So let me down As you do All those lies you tell your spies I’ve cracked the code One and one was won with none to equal you With them and everyone So everybody’s got what they need No questions here to set them free from what they hear It’s nobody’s loss to gain it all The moon here tonight is never new to all the fools So let me go As you do I know my way just fine You think the stars will guide you home But you can’t see the lines I won’t be the one to show you how I broke your code First try, you know A riddle for a child I don’t need your games or prize to win Go sell your rhymes and lies to those that need it most I never will Not me I’m fine And bored to tears in a hall of mirrors Break the glass Alas, now I’m free I’ve let you go As I do You’ll never know that I’m fine

about

Red Shift traverses a sonic and emotional spectrum from a delicate acoustic guitar and voice, to haunting strings, to blistering rock anthems and electric guitar solos.

The album reflects upon ever-increasing isolation and social distance caused by personal loss and death, technological bubbles, and a pandemic. Consequently, the album is intense, dynamic, moody, and sonically diverse. Yet, project leader, Dustin Johnsen, tethers the album together with an underlying folk-style, singer-songwriter foundation.

Stripped of all else lies the sorrow of a human being drifting further and further from other luminous bodies, much like the red-shifted stars in our expanding Universe.
